EIG Women – A Seed That Germinated EIG – Evangelical Women for Gender Equality – was born as a social movement in May 2015, stemming from the acceptance of the challenges that guided the meeting promoted by the Latin American and Caribbean Pentecostal Forum (FPLC) under the theme “Pentecostalisms and Christian Unity: Institutional, Theological and Social Challenges”. In 2022, we achieved institutional status and established the EIG Women Association – Evangelical Women for Gender Equality, headquartered in a small space provided by a supporting company in the Historic Center of the city of São Paulo.

Vision - To be recognized as an entity promoting the rights of cisgender, transvestite, and transgender women within and beyond the Brazilian religious field, by producing diverse and high-quality narratives and knowledge from a socio-religious, political, and social control perspective.

Values - We act guided by an ecotransfeminist-antiracist interreligious theological ethic of popular Christian spirituality/faith in the exercise of collective care and encouragement of self-care, as well as the defense of our Common Home as affirmations and continuity of the kingdom of justice and peace announced by Jesus of Nazareth.

Mission - We exist to confront all forms of violence and oppression, especially those directed against women’s identities and experiences in Brazil, so that their lives, including their spiritual and religious dimensions, may be lived in positive, healthy, and liberating ways, honoring personal journeys and offering new perspectives and practices for self-care and collective care.

Religious women: cisgender and transgender (transvestite) women pastors, presbyters, reverends, deaconesses, lay evangelical Protestant, Pentecostal, Spiritist and Catholic women, rabbis, priestesses, Hindus and other participants of various religious faiths;

Academics: theologians, psychologists, therapists, anthropologists, lawyers, social workers, professional teachers in primary, secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate education, historians, journalists, geographers, religious studies scholars, among many others.

We are digital activists and militants because we understand that the virtual environment can also be an expression of reality. We are online to amplify our struggle with the same purpose that we carry to faith communities, the streets, academic and popular events, etc. We have in-person groups with respective coordinators to build multipliers and implement our actions and partnerships with public authorities and bodies, as well as with activities from within the religious spaces to which we belong.

EIG Women is present in SP, RJ, PR, GO, ES, MG, PB, PE, BA, AC and TO.
